The minerals of aragonite and calcite together build the variety known as onyx marble. In contrast to conventional marble, the onyx marble is fine-grained and partially transparent in its crystalline structure, i.e. it transmits light.
This feature is popular among interior designers who use it to install luxurious backlit large-format panels in a form of paintings, partitions, tiles or other architectural elements. This material offers a luxurious look and originality in a wide range of colours from tones of grey, brown, green, blue, to honey gold, beige, white, pink, orange, purple and red. This material is equally unique in terms of grain size, veining, degree of crystallization or intensity of pattern texture. The largest onyx deposits are in Germany, Brazil, Canada, Madagascar and the USA. Onyx has been used since ancient times and has always been a stone for the chosen ones. This semi-precious stone is capable of lighting up the entire interior. A world-famous example of its artistic rendering is the onyx partition in Villa Tugendhat, Brno, Czech Republic.
